Concern over exam pass rates.

CONCERN OVER EEG PASS RATE

Candidate performance on the EEG credentialing examination has declined. The pass rate dropped 17 percentage points from 2022 to 2023.

In early 2023 ABRET looked at the statistics surrounding the examinations. The findings were as follows.

  • Pass rates have dropped across all four pathways from 2022 to 2023.
  • Pass rates have dropped across the country and are not localized to one state or region.
  • Candidates who tested at Prometric Centers had a higher pass rate than candidates using a live remote proctor through ProProctor.
  • The two content areas that have the lowest pass rate are Ensure Integrity of Data and Analysis.

ABRET WANTS YOU TO KNOW

The examination has not changed. The same two exams (Form A and Form B) have been rotated across 2022, 2023, and 2024. They are statistically comparable.

What has ABRET done?
A deep dive into the EEG statistics was shared with the educators.

An article was published in the ASET Newsletter Summer 2023 Edition to encourage candidates to consider whether live remote proctoring is right for them.

  • ABRET wants you to be successful.
  • ABRET wants all technologists working in neurodiagnostics to be credentialed.
  • ABRET uses subject matter experts working in the field to write and review questions and uses best practices in exam development.
  • ABRET will continue to monitor the pass rates.

According to an article by Chad Buckendahl in Credentialing Insights, declining pass rates are a trend across credentialing and licensure exams nationwide.
