EEG Technician – Rochester, NY

Overview
Performs electroencephalograms (EEG) and electronystagmographies (ENG), evoked potentials (EP), nerve conduction velocities (NCV), and brain mapping neurometrics on outpatients and inpatients.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Performs electroencephalograms (EEG) and electronystagmographies (ENG), evoked potentials (EP), nerve conduction velocities (NCV), and brain mapping neurometrics on patients.
  • Assists physician with electromyography (EMG) and performs nerve conduction velocities (NCV)procedures.
  • Monitors electroencephalograms (EEG), evoked potentials (EP) and topographic brain mapping during vascular, orthopedic and neurosurgical operative procedures.
  • Maintains neurodiagnostic equipment, keeps labs clean and orderly, and orders supplies.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Associates degree in Electroencephalography.
  • Eligible for certification by the American Board of Registration of Electroencephalographic Technologist.

Must have critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.

  • Candidate must be able to work independently and be self-motivated, with the ability to interact professionally with patients, surgeons and hospital staff.  A well-established work ethic with a constant desire to learn is essential.
  • Candidate must possess excellent verbal communication skills as well as team based leadership skills. These are full time positions. Night and weekend work are not common, but remain part of the job description and responsibility.
  • The ideal candidate must be proficient and experienced in performing a full range of intraoperative electrophysiological modalities, including Somatosensory Evoked Potentials (SSEP), Transcranial electric Motor Evoked Potentials (TceMEP) and Electromyography (EMG).
  • Minimum requirements include a Bachelor of Science Degree or higher in life sciences or an ABRET recognized credential such as R.EEG or R.EP.T or CNIM Certification. CNIM Certification is preferred for this position.
